Anyone who is lucky enough to become a grandparent has been given a gift from God. We have been blessed with that gift three times. Our grandchildren are the best gift we've been given since our children were born.

Our grandparents are in Heaven, and sorely loved and missed. But, until we meet again we have wonderful memories of times we shared with them.

Since 1978, the first Sunday after Labor Day has been officially designated as Grandparents Day. 

More than a reason to sell greeting cards, this annual event recognizes the strength, love and guidance grandparents provide to families. Although the recognized date is Sept. 7 this year, any day is a great opportunity to celebrate grandparents.

Today is special. This morning I have my three grandchildren with me. All three of them spent the night, which was very nice, since today is Grandparents Day. It was the best way to start the day.
