Presently
there are two bills before Congress; one is often referred to as PIPA (Protect
IP Act) and the other SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). These bills would
potentially censor the web and impose even more regulation on American
business.
Numerous websites
were “blacked out” yesterday to demonstrate their opposition to
PIPA and SOPA, including Barbara's Beat. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) withdrew his support citing that
"Congress should listen and avoid rushing through a bill that could have
many unintended consequences".
You can get more information on SOPA
and PIPA here.
Based upon available information, the Senate will start voting on Tuesday, Jan. 24. You can urge your Senators to vote “No” by using this link to easily contact them. Every voice must be heard. If they regulate the Net, what's next?
