Glenda at Busy-at-Home has created her own stain remover. She says it not only works, but it's inexpensive and non-toxic.
It only has three ingredients that may already be in your house and water. As an added bonus she gives you her DIY laundry detergent.
Name brand stain removers can be upwards of $4 or $5 for a bottle that is less than one quart in size, depending on the brand you purchase. Some are even double that depending on where you shop.
Glenda's homemade stain remover makes a one-quart batch, and it cost her 88 cents. When calculating the price per quart, for one batch, she used 63 cents worth of Dawn, 16 cents worth of washing soda and nine cents worth of ammonia. She said it costs a fraction over 20cents per 75-load bottle. I wish I could figure out things like that.

ReplyDeleteThis is great Dianna has just started on making her deoderant and laundry soap-- so I will show her this ,if she doesn't already know so she can do this too. I really like the break down on prices-- I thought the laundry soap was expensive at first but as time goes on --we are not buying supplies to keep going --its working out great and spending less money--thanks

ReplyDeleteThat is a good Idea generally I use everything but the kitchen sink. I am tired of paying that money and it just not doing a great job on the stain. So i will try a new way.

ReplyDeleteI wonder how many different kinds of stains this works on, grease, alcohol, grass, etc. My kids get all sorts of things on their clothes, most frequently marker and pen from school. Still at that price, it would be worth it even if it doesn't work on everything.
