The Conover, NC, Police Department will host it's 15th annual National Night Out (NNO) tonight at Concordia Church from 6 - 9 pm. Some streets will be closed for the event.
Annually on this date, communities come together to support law enforcement and take a stand against crime nationwide. Citizens leave their porch lights on to show their support. Others gather to celebrate and learn what they can do to combat the problem in their neighborhoods so they don't become a victim.
In order for the NNO campaign to be a success, it takes citizens, law enforcement, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials to get involved. This program is recognized worldwide with millions of participants who are fed up with crime.
The featured entertainment for this year’s event will be Song Fellows from Nashville, Tennessee, and Brothers Redeemed from Conover.
For the past 13 years, the Conover Police Department has won national awards for participating in “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”
