My granddaughter, Kristen, loves books. When she got Arlo Needs Glasses, she read it many times.

Kristen is around a lot of people who wears glasses. She likes to wear sunglasses, but has never worn prescription glasses.

When we were reading the story, I wasn't sure if she would understand why Arlo couldn't see and how glasses could help. Well, she understood fine.

Later, as Kristen was showing her book to her brother's friend, she went page-by-page explaining how Arlo likes to play catch with his ball. But, he was missing the ball a lot because he couldn't see it very well.

Arlo had to go to the doctor (optometrist) and have his eyes checked. He saw everything blurry on the eye chart. So did Kristen, because she took the test with Arlo. Then, they both had to look through a fold-out phoropter.

Finally, Arlo and Kristen tried on glasses until they found the best pair. Now, Arlo can see and he can catch his ball again. She loves the interaction of the book.

As we got to the end of the book, Kristen was overjoyed at what else Arlo can now do with his new glasses. It is her favorite part of the story.

Every child who wears glasses will know how Arlo feels, and will feel better because of it. And, you can show your kids glasses are cool. And, how much they can really help.

This book is a winner. Kristen and I give it five paws each.
