Transportation
If you’re flying into Charlotte, you’ll be coming through Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is known to have one of the best runway viewing areas in the country. From runway 18C/36C, visitors can watch planes take off, land, and taxi. The airport is also home to the Carolinas Aviation Museum, which recently acquired the US Airways Airbus Captain “Sully” Sullenberger landed in the Hudson River in January ’09.
Once you've landed in sunny Charlotte, you’ll have an array of ground transport options. Catch the Sprinter bus to connect directly from the airport to downtown. A ride will cost you just $1.75, and the bus leaves every 20 minutes! Once downtown, hop on the Gold Rush Historic Trolley to check out Charlotte’s various museums, entertainment, nightlife and sporting events. The best part? It’s free! For those driving to Charlotte, it is centrally located off I-77 and I-85.
