Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration is Saturday in Charlotte

The USO of North Carolina and Charlotte Motor Speedway, with support from the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters, will honor the service of Vietnam Veterans with an incredible Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration on Saturday, March 31, for the military members and their friends and families.


Vietnam veterans never received the type of homecoming celebration that today's troops receive as they return from service. To honor those who served and the military members who returned from combat, the USO of North Carolina is holding a long, overdue homecoming celebration. This tribute will honor the 216,000 North Carolina residents who served in Vietnam, 1,600 of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration 2012 is set to be an unforgettable experience featuring live entertainment, displays and demonstrations, and military salutes! Veteran Service Organizations will be on-site throughout the day to assist veterans. Please bring your military ID, VA ID or DD Form 214 so they can help, if needed.

As part of the event, the NCAB will air a one-hour special at 3 p.m. live from the celebration on TV stations throughout NC. The show will include interviews with celebrities and entertainers, military dignitaries, Medal of Honor recipients, tours of the displays, including the Moving Vietnam Wall and the Vietnam helicopter exhibit, and more.
