Luther 2: What if your worst enemy was your own conscience?

Have you ever thought your worst enemy was your own conscience? I know I have.

In Luther 2, John Luther, Idris Elba (The Wire), has to consider an ongoing alliance with a beautiful psychopath, Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson, The Prisoner). Full of energy, in this series Luther faces the question: What if your worst enemy was your own conscience?

Nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe for his role as Luther, Elba returns to Luther 2, a dark psychological drama TV Guide called “criminally good”. This DVD  is the sequel to the BBC AMERICA miniseries. Luther takes bigger risks and faces even darker challenges.

DCI John Luther (Idris Elba) and Jenny Jones (Amiee-Ffion Edwards)

Luther, a near-genius detective, struggles with his own demons. He is devastated by the brutal murder of his wife.

When Luther returns to policing, it's a different world. Luther's old unit is gone, and he's working in the newly created Serious and Serial Unit, headed by former police complaints officer Martin Schenk (Dermot Crowley, Babel).

Luther gathers his own team, rescuing his old partner Detective Justin Ripley (Warren Brown, Shameless) from uniform, and they get their first case. A masked man is wandering the streets of London, carrying out ritualistic murders in historic locations, trying to work his way up to a final masterpiece.

At the same time Luther’s trying to rescue the daughter of an old acquaintance, from prostitution. But, his mission to rescue Jenny comes with a high price. Luther’s caught between breaking the rules, and the mobsters that run the world of prostitution in London.
