Read 'Llama Llama Red Pajama' for Jumpstart's Read for the Record Day

Our children and grandchildren are the most important love of our lives. It's up to us to make sure their future is the best it can be, because no one else cares as much as we do.

Each year budgets get cut, and our kids suffer. They're our children that attend schools without books. They have to remember everything the first time they hear it, because they don't have a book to take home.

The reality is one in three kids in the U.S. begin kindergarten behind. Most of those kids will never catch up. We need to prepare them prior to entering school so they have the foundation to do well.

On Oct. 6, we can help children worldwide by reading the same book together. Read Llama Llama Red Pajama, as part of Jumpstart's annual Read for the Record Day.

Maybe you can support a preschool in a low-income community. Many of them have no books at home. Whomever you read to, it will be appreciated.

Jumpstart, a national education organization, hosts this global event annually to help children. Many celebrities including Bill Cosby, Justin Beiber, Vince Vaghn, Matt Lauer, Pattie Labelle, representatives on Capitol Hill, elected officials, parent, teachers, children, and volunteers, have helped. But this year, Jumpstart needs your help to set a new world record of 2.1 million readers.

This year there are two records as part of this exciting campaign, and one of them is exclusive to We Give Books! Millions will read online to help set a brand-new record for a shared digital reading experience.

Get started now! Pledge to Read for the Record. Teachers, be sure to check out the Educator’s Guide for hints about participating in your classroom or school.

If you don’t own the book, it is being offered free to read online at www.wegivebooks.org.

Repost if you believe every child deserves a quality early education, no matter where they grow up. 1-in-3 American children arrive at their first day of kindergarten unprepared to learn, but there's something you and I can do about it. Join Jumpstart's Read for the Record on Thursday 10/6 and help us break a world reading record. Sit down to read and stand up for children. Learn more at www.readfortherecord.org/pledge.
