When you're a teenage mom of two, everyone's opinion is that the kids won't amount to anything. Well, I would love to set them straight.
In today's world, how many parents can say their kids don't smoke? Don't drink? Don't do drugs? Know the Lord? Have a happy family?
I was not, nor am I, a perfect mother. But, I have always tried to do right and put my children first. There were many disagreements in our home about how many presents or how large a party they needed, because I always wanted them to have more than I had as a child. My kids always came first.
My daughter, Patricia, married a soldier, and as a US Army spouse, she had a big responsibility. She went into labor with her first son without her husband or family in Germany. Not only did she survive, she helped other wives, too.
She now has three children, has her own home daycare, and will soon graduate with her Bachelors Degree.
My, son, Thomas, is the younger of my kids. He was born in Germany. He traveled with us to Missouri after our last military tour in Germany. That is where he met and married his wife.
They followed us to NC, where they lived for a couple years, but decided to spread their wings and move out west and bought a home. Thomas now works in the oil industry. They have four-legged babies.
I couldn't ask for anything more. Not many parents are as fortunate as I am. I thank God every day, not only for my two children, but for my in-laws, and my grandkids. I am so proud of them all.
Full disclosure: This is an entry to the Proud Mom contest sponsored by UPrinting, and I have a chance to win $50 for my post.
