The final five American Idol contestants each got to sing two songs tonight. They had to sing 'Now and Then' songs.
James Durbin started the show and rocked the stage with “Closer to the Edge” by 30 Seconds to Mars. The judges said he was in it to win it.
James is my number three pick.
Jacob Lusk didn't do so well singing a duet song, “No Air” by Idol winner Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, and the judges said so.
I didn't like it all. I'm done with him.
Lauren Alaina sang “Flat on the Floor” by Carrie Underwood, then Scotty McCreery sang “Gone” by Montgomery Gentry. They were both told they were in it to win it!
They were hot tonight. When they took the stage they owned it. They're my number one and two in no certain order.

Haley Reinhart took a chance with an unreleased Lady Gaga song, “You and I,” and it wasn't very good. She didn't connect with the judges, or me.
Then there was round two.
James Durbin sang, “Without You” by Harry Nilsson, with such emotion he had me when he opened his mouth. And he didn't disappoint as he teared up at the end. It was very moving and the judges loved it.
Jacob sang, Roy Orbison’s “Love Hurts," as his second selection. The judges brought up the fact that he messed up in the middle, but brought it home in the end.
For me it was too late, and it's the end for him. Time for him to go home.
Lauren got all postive comments for her sweet rendition of The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody.” She also looked very pretty singing it.
Then Scotty sang in Elvis style, "Always on My Mind" originally recorded by Brenda Lee, with no problem. The judges said, "you are well rounded," "I love it," and "America loves it."
Haley closed the show with The Animals’ “House of the Rising Sun.” It was a lot better than her first song. She brought everyone to their feet. Randy said it was the best performance of the night.
