Amber Alert issued for 10-year-old disabled Hickory, N.C. girl

Pray for this little girl

The State of North Carolina issued an Amber Alert late Saturday, Oct. 9, after a disabled girl was reported missing from her Hickory, N.C. home, 21 21st Ave. NW, Hickory, NC, 12 hours after her stepmom said she last saw her asleep in her bedroom at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Zahra Clare Baker, a white female, 10 years old, 5' 1", 85 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair, is a cancer survivor. She was last seen wearing a camouflage Army T-shirt, black knee-length tights. She has a prosthetic device below her left knee and is hearing-impaired.

There is no suspect in this case. However, Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Annette Baker, 42, who has been arrested for communicating threats, according to a police report, has not been ruled out as a person of interest after some conflicts in details about Zahra Clare Baker's disappearance.

Zahra's dad, Adam Bake, said he isn't sure if his wife had anything to do with Zahra's disappearance or not, he just wants his little girl back, because he misses her.

There is no suspect vehicle in this case.
The story has received national attention, and Hickory police, the State Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshal and the FBI are working on the case, and a news conference will be held this morning to discuss the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551 or dial 911.
