Summer trips can be fun and educational, too, ask my grandsons

My grandsons recently returned from an unforgetable educational summer trip. They got to stay aboard the USS Yorktown in S.C. They also went aboard a submarine and went to Fort Sumter where they were chosen to help fold the American flag.

They learned so many things in such a short time. It was a once in a lifetime experience they'll never forget. They learned so much more by actually seeing history with their own eyes than they would just by reading it in a book.

Summer trips with the kids can be great learning experiences and fun at the same time. You don't have to go far from home, many are in your backyard.

The Civil War provides a great opportunity for a learning experience that I think my grandsons would enjoy. They would learn so much more watching the reactenactment of the battles.
Civil War Battlefields are located in several states. Many of our battlefields are in danger of being lost, although the Civil War Preservation Trust’s CWPT is trying to ensure their protection so we can visit and learn from them for many years to come.

No matter where you go for your summer trip, turn it into an educational adventure. Learning can be fun.
