Kohl's Cares® is donating $10 million - $500,000 to 20 schools

In celebration of Kohl's Cares® 10th anniversary, they're donating $500,000 to 20 schools each for a total of $10 million.

To vote for your school or submit an idea for usage of funds, select your school from the drop down list. If your school is not included, e-mail promoprocessing@aol.com and provide your school information including the school name, address, website address (if available) and your contact information to verify eligibility. Upon verification your school will be added to the database within 48 hours.

Once they’ve selected your school you can vote for your school and add a formal submission explaining what your school would do with $500,000. Each submission or idea is added to the school’s entry. Voting or adding a formal submission is optional for everyone, however, a school must have at least one formal submission to be considered eligible to receive a donation.

To add a formal submission or an idea to your school's entry, submit an essay of 200 words or less that explains what your school would do with the money. Funds must be used for nonprofit youth serving programs focused on children's health and education.

Funds will be awarded to individual schools, any exceptions to this rule will be determined by Kohl’s in the event a school may not be able to accept the donations. Funds will not be paid to school districts, foundations, PTA/PTO, booster, or alumni organizations.

Only projects in the following categories are eligible for funding: acquisition, construction or renovation of a school facility (capital expenditures made within 2 years); efforts focused on curriculum including math, science, reading, language arts, music, art, athletics, physical education and technology; books, supplies, equipment, and teacher salaries needed to reinstate these programs are also eligible for funding.

The following programs and conditions will not be funded by donation money: politically partisan programs, religious programs; medical or health related consultation or services, including disbursement of medication; direct funding of individual scholarships, financial aid, merit pay, staff professional development, and overhead; fund raising campaigns or lobbying efforts.

There is no limit on the number of formal submissions a school can have or a participant can make. You may add a photo or video to enhance your submission, however submission of neither is required. If you submit a video it should be no longer than 1½ minutes. Photos must be in the following formats: jpg, gif or png. They can be no larger than 2 MB and can be uploaded from your computer.

You will be allowed no more than 5 votes per school during the voting period. Voting ends Sept 3.
