My husband doesn't always buy, or even think about presents for every occasion, which makes his recent secret even more of a surprise.
When I was growing up, my family spent a lot of time gathered around the kitchen table piled high with Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs. We loved those times eating and laughing together.
After I met my husband, who had never eaten whole crabs, I introduced them. He likes crabs, but complains it's too much work for little reward eating whole crabs. He prefers the crab claws instead.
But he wanted me to have new family memories with a new generation, my daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. Unfortunatly, my son and his wife, moved too far away to join us. He wanted me to teach my grandsons how to clean the crabs.
Since we live in N.C., he decided to wait for our anniversary and order several dozen crabs from Maryland. I didn't have a clue. It was a well kept secret. And it was a huge surprise.
I am not good with surprises. I always get embrassed. But I ended up enjoying the crabs and teaching my grandsons how to clean them while we talked and laughed.
We had a wonderful time. And I am so thankful to my husband for such a wonderful gift.
