Our most precious resource needs your help: Please attend the Children's Summit in Catawba County, N.C., on Tuesday

You can help make Catawba County, N.C., an even better community for our children and families. Your opinion counts.

A planning committee wants to know what you think. You are invited to attend and share your ideas at a Children's Summit during one of two sessions:

  • Tuesday, October 6, at Northview Middle School, 302 28th Avenue NE, Hickory,
  • Tuesday, October 13, Maiden High School, 600 West Main Street, Maiden.
Both meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Catawba County Board of Commissioners has appointed a planning committee to develop a consolidated Children’s Agenda. The Children’s Agenda will include recommendations to address priority issues impacting children and their families in Catawba County.

The planning committee would like to hear from citizens about what should be included in this agenda. At each session a group will meet to hear the latest data regarding children’s issues in the community. Then subgroups will talk more in depth about five areas of concern:

  • Safety and Security
  • Basic Needs and Resources
  • Education and Preparation for Work
  • Quality of Life
  • Health care
For more information, please contact Dawn Wilson at dawnewilson@catawbacountync.gov or call 828-695-5702.

Children’s Summits are sponsored by the Children's Agenda Planning Committee.
