Walmart, have announced a voluntary recall of Durabrand DVD Players. Consumers should stop using it immediately due to fire hazard.
- Name of product: Durabrand DVD players
- Units: About 1.5 million
- Importer: Walmart Stores Inc., of Bentonville, Ark.
- Hazard: The DVD players can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
- Incidents/Injuries: Walmart has received 12 reports of DVD players overheating, five of which have resulted in fires that caused property damage. No injuries have been reported.
- Description: This recall involves a single DVD player with a remote control.
- The device is silver colored and has a U-shaped opening at the top to insert the DVD.
- Sold exclusively at: Walmart stores nationwide from January 2006 through July 2009 for about $29.
- Manufactured in: China
- Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the product and return it to the nearest Walmart for a full refund.
