Starbucks can keep it's Strawberries and Crème Frappuccino with bugs

I don't want to eat or drink insect extract. Cochineal, or crushed up bugs, is used for the reddish color in the Strawberries and Crème Frappuccino at Starbucks.

No doubt we eat bugs in other foods. But, that is the problem. Our government lets it happen and doesn't let us know about it.

Since I have allergies and asthma, I can't take a chance with an ingredient not being disclosed when it has been found to cause allergic reactions and asthma in some people.

The Dish, the blog that initally discovered the information, started a petition on Change.org asking Starbucks to stop using cochineal and replace it with another natural coloring substitute like red beet, black carrot, purple sweet potato or paprika.

You can sign the petition here.

I just don't understand why they didn't use the natural coloring in the first place.
