The first Dancing with the Stars Season 16 contestant has been named. Midway through The Oscars on Sunday night a professional football player was named in a DWTS commercial.Jacoby Jones is the first name to officially be released as a dancer for the show. He's a professional football player for the 2013 Super Bowl Champions Baltimore Ravens.
Jones began his professional career after being drafted by the Houston Texans in 2009. He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens in 2012.
Jones was recently featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
The remaining new stars will be announced Tuesday. Tune into Good Morning America at 7am ET.
There have been a lot of rumors surrounding who the stars will be. Another General Hospital star, Country music star Kellie Pickler, Sean Lowe from the Bachelor, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, Chef Bobby Flay, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Bachorlette Emily Maynard, Kourtney Kardashian, and reality show shocker, June Shannon, mom of Honey Boo Boo.
The rumor mill has quit Maksim Chmerkovskiy. I remember this rumor from last year, but there may be more truth to it this year.
So far, Cheryl Burke, Tony Dovolani, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Derek Hough, Mark Ballas and Peta Murgatroyd are said to be returning as professionals. Former Troupe Member, Sharna Burgess, and a newcomer, Lindsay Arnold, will also become professional dancers this season.
