Help Fight Hunger: Vote or purchase select products from Walmart partners

People in our area are hungry and we can help feed them with a click of a button. Time is running out to make a difference in our community.
Walmart is inviting customers to join the fight against hunger. I know our community needs help. You can help provide meals to families in need by purchasing select products in Walmart stores or by visiting Walmart's Facebook page to vote for one of 200 communities to receive $1 million to fight hunger. Walmart is also giving $50,000 to 20 communities with the next highest amount of support.

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have committed $2 billion cash and in-kind, stepping up efforts to help end hunger in America.

It's $2 billion commitment includes four key components:
  • Donating more than 1.1 billion pounds of food from Walmart stores, distribution centers and Sam’s Club locations, valued at $1.75 billion;
  • Grants totaling $250 million to support hunger relief organizations at the national, state and local levels;
  • Mobilizing Walmart associates and customers. For example, Walmart’s logistics team will lend their expertise to help food banks become more efficient in their operations; and
  • Collaboration with government, food manufacturers and other corporations that are fighting hunger to increase impact and reach a greater number of families in need.

In May 2010, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation committed $2 billion to fight domestic hunger through 2015. Walmart is committed to using its scale and reach to help solve the hunger challenge facing America. As part of our initial commitment, Walmart committed to engage its customers, associates and other corporations in the fight against hunger.

Through April 30, you will see Fighting Hunger Together featured in Walmart stores as Walmart teams up with Kellogg’s, Kraft, Con Agra and General Mills. Visit your local Walmart store to see Walmart’s Fighting Hunger Together program come to life through in-store signage, food demos and on label product promotions that benefit hunger relief organizations.

As part of this campaign, we are also asking you to vote for the communities you want to support from a list of 200 metropolitan statistical areas. The winner will receive $1 million to fight hunger locally. You can also find local organizations you can donate to or volunteer for directly. Walmart knows it will take all of us working together to end hunger.
